ON DOWNLOADING WORKSHEETS
THE WORKSHEETS
- You will need to download and print the worksheets
for this course. If you have a computer and printer at home (or know
someone with a computer and printer), you can print the worksheets
at your convenience. If you do not have a computer and/or printer,
we suggest you go to the Downtown Campus Library and Computer Commons,
or go to a local copy store.
DOWNTOWN CAMPUS LIBRARY
AND COMPUTER COMMONS
- The Library and Computer Commons
at the Downtown Campus have computers and printers where you can download
the worksheets and print them at 10 cents per page.
PRINTING THE WORKSHEETS
-- YOU NEED ACROBAT READER 4 or 5 or higher
INSTALLING ACROBAT READER
ON THIS COMPUTER
- The computers in the Biology Learning Lab already
have Adobe Acrobat Reader loaded - you do not need to download it
again!
- The computers in the Downtown Campus Library and
Computer Commons also have Adobe Acrobat Reader already loaded.
- If you are currently working on your own computer
at home, then you'll want to download Adobe Acrobat Reader right away!
This is a very handy program to have on your computer, since more
and more websites are putting their downloadable reports and forms
into PDF format.
ABOUT PDF FILES
- PDF stands for Portable Document Format. We put
the worksheets in PDF files so that after you download and print the
worksheets, they will look exactly the way we intended. PDF files
retain their formatting regardless of the computer platform, internet
browser, or type of printer you are using.
WHY DID WE PUT THE WORKSHEETS
ONLINE?
- After years of student complaints about the price
of pre-printed workbooks, we wanted to find a way of lowering the
price. Also, there were always problems in determining the exact number
of workbooks to be printed every semester. Whenever we made changes
in the curriculum, the old workbooks in the bookstore became outdated.
Therefore we decided to put them in this format, and put them online.
That way, (1) we've taken out the "middle man" (the campus bookstore),
and if you are printing at home, the only cost is what you spend on
paper and ink; (2) you print them out as needed, just one unit at
a time; and (3) we protect the environment by making sure that there
aren't any extra unused workbooks that end up in the landfill.
