Measuring Mass

The commonly used units for measuring mass (and the only ones we need to know right now) are:

If we weigh 1 cc of water (which has a volume of 1 ml), it weighs 1 gram. (Now you can see how easy it is to convert from length to volume to mass in the metric system. You can't do that very easily in the English system!)

In the lab, we usually measure small things with an electronic digital balance.
