Welcome!

(Note to returning students: if you have taken this class before, and thus already had a past orientation, please note that there have been significant changes made to the course "rules." Be sure to read the entire orientation. Do not skim it!)

It is very important that you read your entire syllabus very carefully along with the following text. However, do not read your syllabus just yet. You will be prompted to read each section, one at a time. Your entire orienation should take about 20 minutes to complete.

In order to complete the orientation you need to be sitting at a computer in the Biology Learning Center (Dowtown Campus ST107) with a written syllabus in front of you. The syllabus should be the one that you obtained from the front desk when you checked in with us. Be sure that it is on green paper and that the last page is an agreement form. If you downloaded the syllabus yourself from the website, it will not contain the agreement form.

If you have not yet come into the Biology Learning Center, and are reading this orientation from home, you are not completely enrolled in your course yet. You will not be allowed to take any exams or complete any labs until you have had an onsite orientation in our center. This should be completed during the first week of classes.

Three reasons you should read and complete this orientation carefully:

  1. You are going to be quizzed on the syllabus before you can start the class.
  2. You are not completely enrolled in the course until you read and complete all sections of the orientation! Even though you may be registered for the class on paper, you will NOT be able to take exams or earn lab points until we have your completed and signed agreement form, contact information, and syllabus quiz.
  3. You will not receive the first set of worksheets (for the first unit of work) until we have your completed and signed agreement form, contact information, and syllabus quiz.
